As I explore this place where I live, land that has been in my husband’s family for generations, I am acutely aware of time’s passing. Living here, season after season, I need to make sense of life’s monumental changes, and to develop my own connection to this place. I have found meaning through witnessing nature’s transformation, its cycles and seasons.
These places in my drawings are part of my every day. I know them well: the woods I walk, the river where I sit, my garden. I experience them in every season, some days taking more notice- the sun on my face, the wind in the air, or a bit of color on an otherwise dreary winter day.
Nature’s energy, present in my lines and marks, connects me here. Through the movement of my hand, my place in time is obvious. These marks are the evidence I leave: I am here.
