About the Artist

Living in rural Maine for the last decade, Kay Sullivan’s work explores her connection with her surroundings and the passing of time. Working in series and variations of a theme, she makes drawings and paintings of the same favorite spots, documenting her experience of the changes of days and rhythms of the seasons from one year to the next.

The small scale of Kay’s work allows for an immediate response to her subject; each is usually completed in one session. The size asks for close attention, reinforcing the personal connection.

Kay Sullivan received her Master of Fine Arts from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, PA. She is a juried member of the Pastel Society of America, and her award winning pastels have been exhibited in numerous shows in New England and Philadelphia. Her work is held in private collections across the United States.
